Hello, I’m Leila Marcillo-Gómez
I am a photographer, filmmaker and editor. I have received multiple awards and recognition for my photography and documentary work from organizations such as the New York Press Association and the Valkyrie International Film Festival.
I am currently a grad student studying at Ithaca College in the MBA in Entertainment & Media Management program. I recently graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in Documentary Studies & Production with minors in Environmental Studies and Still Photography.
I am currently working as a photographer for Park Productions and the Managing Editor of Dispatch. I have worked as a photographer/videographer for the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington D.C., photo editor for The Ithacan and The Ithacan: Year in Review, and served as a HISS photography ambassador while I studied abroad in Korea. Additionally, I am currently working as an Apartment Assistant, circulation assistant at the IC library, and teaching assistant.
I was born and raised in New Jersey but currently spend most of the year in upstate New York. I spent 1 ½ years of my childhood living in Ecuador where my maternal lineage is from. Most recently I spent the summer of 2023 studying abroad in South Korea.
When I’m not at school, I love to spend time with my dog, two cats, my older brother and sister and parents. I enjoy playing music, hiking, longboarding, hammocking, and exploring new places with friends.
As a passionate storyteller, I'm driven to create narratives that resonate and inspire. I believe in the power of media to shape perspectives and drive change. I'm a lifelong learner, always seeking opportunities to grow and develop. I'm also deeply committed to social and environmental issues, and I strive to use my work to make a positive impact on the world.
